Update on Paxton's Health

Here is the all the info on what's going on to Paxton:

Wednesday night, when we put Paxton down for bed he seemed a little warm, but he is a very sweaty sleeper, so we thought nothing of it.

Thursday, he was a little lethargic and kind of crabby but still being himself for the most part. He was eating less and still felt warm so we took his temperature around 1pm and it was 101.5-ish, which was a little temp but nothing unusal. I went to work as usual around 4:00pm and all was well when I left. At 6:30pm my boss, Steve, grabbed me and told me my husband was on the phone and it was very important (Jon NEVER calls me at work)

He proceeded to tell me Paxton had a temperature of 102.5 and was going to take him to the Urgent Care at Children's. I had him call our after-hour Peds number just to make sure it was the right choice. He did, and they said just to bring him in, better safe then sorrry! I left work immediately, picked up the boys and headed to Children's. We spent about 3 hours in Urgent Care, the took blood tests and cultures and urine tests. Everything came back normal and we left with instructions to keep the fever down.

Friday, my parents came to help out so I coule get ready for Brittany's Bridal Shower. Paxton seemed a little pale and a little pooped out. We didn't hear from the nurses all day, so we thought we were in the clear. We go out for ice cream, come back and we have 5 missed calls and a message from the nurse telling us to call her back and take Paxton to be admitted.

Paxton had postive cultures, Gran-Negative Rods, which indicates an infection in the blood. They redrew the blood cultures, and admitted us for minimum of 48 hours. After waiting and waiting and waiting some more, Dr. Alter informed us Sunday morning the 2nd set of cultures was clear after 24 hours, but the first set revealed Samonellaiosis after 48 hours.

As of right now the plan is to insert a PICC IV Monday morning, keep him here overnight Monday. Then they will teach us how to administer meds at home, and we'll get released Tuesday afternoon.
